Most golf courses are designed with holes of varying lengths ranging from less than 100 yards long all the way up to more than 600 yards. Each hole is assigned a par value that represents how many shots it should take to hole the ball. Longer holes have a higher par value. The most common par values are par 5, par 4, and par 3.

Par 3 holes are the shortest and give players three shots to make par. Par 3 holes are exciting to play as you can easily reach the green from the tee box. The excitement that par 3 golf courses provide have led to the creation of golf courses that consist of only par 3 holes. These courses are known as par 3 courses.
